Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced they will bow the recent theatrical flicks 'Alpha Dog' and 'The Hitcher (2007)' on HD DVD May 1.
Both releases will be HD DVD/DVD combo discs, and hwill it stores day-and-date with their standard-def DVD counterparts. Each boasts the studio's standard 1080p/VC-1 video transfers, along with Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 surround tracks. However, 'Alpha Dog' is also scheduled to include a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix, making it only the studio's third such title to support lossless audio (after ''End f Days' and 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.'
Supplemental features on both will mirror their respective DVDs, with 'Alpha Dog' boasting two featurettes, while 'The Hitcher' gets four, plus deleted scenes. There are no announced HD exclusives.
Universal has set a suggested list of $39.95 for each title.
