Videogame Releases: Week of September 15th, 2013 – Non ‘GTA’ Edition

Even with all of the ‘Grand Theft Auto‘ excitement, a few other videogames come out this week as well. After all, those with only a Wii U or a PC need something to play too.

Wonderful 101 (Wii U)

Ah, Nintendo… Once upon a time, ‘Wonderful 101‘ was set to be the envious Wii U platform debut for Platinum Games. Sadly, with North America getting the game long after the rest of the world, and since it fails to use the GamePad in a fun matter, the title has lost a lot of luster. Still, it’s a new IP and a unique game, if at times clumsy and filled with lame jokes.

ARMA III (PC)

After months and months of beta (and even alpha) testing, ‘ARMA III’ is finally out. Hopefully, its post-release, single player campaign is also available. Anyone with a decent PC and a hankering for a more realistic military game than the big FPS titles should check it out. Just be prepared to spend hours staking out positions and holding ground.

Skulls of the Shogun (360, Win 8 Tablet, Windows Phone, PC)

Skulls of the Shogun‘ has been out for a while, first for the 360 and Windows 8 family, and more recently on normal Windows platforms. I’ve been addicted to the game’s campaign, and short bursts of dialogue between dead samurai generals (think ‘Beetlejuice’). The multiplayer is fun as well, and can be played asynchronously across platforms. But if taking one turn doesn’t grab you, up to four players can battle locally, in the best thing since ‘Advance Wars’.
