Videogame Releases: Week of March 25th, 2012

It’s a rather unremarkable week for new videogame releases, unless you’re one of the very specific 3DS owners who feels affection for the similarly unremarkable Nintendo Entertainment System game ‘Kid Icarus’. I guess it’s cool if you like golf too, but let’s be honest, golf games peaked with ‘Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf’ for the Genesis.

Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS)

I’ve never really understood the love for ‘Kid Icarus’, but the love is there nonetheless. It’s not that the NES platformer is bad, just that there’s nothing that actually impresses me about the title. Still, the game is a cult classic and has gathered quite the fan following – a following that Nintendo is banking on for the latest release. Reviews for ‘Kid Icarus: Uprising‘ are solid, and the game actually looks pretty good, so it may be worth picking up even if you’re not a Nintendo junkie.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 (360, PS3)

I’m sure this “brings a whole new dimensionality to the game through new online play features and lets the player feel as if they’re really on the PGA tour,” or something like that. Really, assuming that golf games follow the traditional sports game arc, ‘PGA Tour 13‘ will be just like the last one but a little prettier and with different stats.
