Videogame Releases: Week of December 5th, 2010

Technically, there are a few different videogames coming out this week, like the ‘Tron’ game that’s destined for clearance racks everywhere and ‘Bejeweled 3’, which is only worth mentioning due to the tremendous money it will inevitably make. In reality, there’s only one title worth talking about.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (PC)

Very few games have enjoyed the kind of popularity that ‘World of Warcraft’ has, and far fewer have made the same kind of cultural impact. It’s a monster of a game that just keeps getting bigger, trampling anything in its path. Six years after release, there’s still not an MMO out there that can beat it.

The latest expansion, ‘Cataclysm’, brings with it an entirely redesigned world that includes some nice graphical upgrades and a new user-friendly design. Gone are the insanely long walks and tedious grinding. You’ll level faster and have more fun doing it.

‘Cataclysm’ also introduces two new races. Goblins make an appearance on the Horde side of things, and Worgens – a sort of werewolf-like creature – come into play for the Alliance. Thanks to the restructuring of the world, you’ll get a whole new experience leveling your characters up too.

I’ve already got the expansion installed and ready to go. Chances are that I’m probably playing as you read this. Even better, my friends are all coming back to town for Christmas, which means we’ll have a nice LAN set-up in the living room.

You can expect at least another post or two on ‘Cataclysm’ with some insight into the new expansion.  Meanwhile, if you need me, I’ll be on the Turalyon server under the name Splugg. Hope to see a few of you folks in the world of Azeroth!
