Videogame Releases: Week of April 29th, 2012

Well, April is over and we didn’t see many good videogame releases. May continues with this trend as we start the month with a $50 console game and two XBLA/PSN titles. Fear not, May will shape up. There are a few games coming out later this month that hold some promise. The titles that I’m looking forward to are ‘Starhawk’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’. So, buckle in and hope for the best. In the meantime, here’s what’s in store for you this week.

Sniper Elite V2 (XBOX, PS3)

This one is a remake of ‘Sniper Elite’, hence the ‘V2’. It’s a third-person shooter where you play a sniper, shooting stuff in the WWII era. I’m not convinced that ‘Sniper Elite’ V1 was worthy enough for a remake, but that seems to be the name of the game these days. So, why not? It’ll retail for $50.

Fable Heroes (XBLA)

This looks like a fun little game set in the ‘Fable’ universe. The clips I’ve seen make me think of the Lego games. It will have four-player co-op, and as you level up, you can unlock items that will later be available in the upcoming ‘Fable: The Journey’.

Awesomenauts (XBLA/PSN)

Here’s a groovy-looking downloadable game that’s described as “bringing team-based competitive arena play to a platforming perspective.” Color me curious! I’m not sure how to better describe it other than maybe ‘Megaman’ meets ‘Earthworm Jim’? Yeah, that’s not really covering it. Check out the trailer below. It looks like a blast!
