Videogame Releases: Week of April 15th, 2012

It’s another pretty slow week for new videogames, but a few of you folks may be looking forward to checking out one of these titles. However, when one of the major games of the week retails for $30, you have to wonder when this quarter will pick up!

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (360)

The sequel to the PC RPG ‘The Witcher’ is scheduled for release this week. ‘The Witcher 2‘ was actually released for the PC in May of last year and is just now getting an Xbox 360 version. For those fans planning to pick it up this week, you’ll have the option of grabbing either the “Enhanced Edition” or the “Dark Edition.” The “Enhanced” variety will include a separate disc that contains in-game music as well as a quest handbook and world map. The “Dark” version includes all of the above as well as a making-of DVD, an art book, a wolf’s head Witcher medallion on a chain, and three Witcher stickers. The “Enhanced Edition” will run you the regular $60 and the “Dark Edition” rings in at $100, though a quick search of the usual online vendors shows the fancy one already sold out.

Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat (360/PS3)

This release of ‘Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat‘ is actually just a retail version of two XBLA and PSN downloadable games: ‘Deadliest Warrior: Legends’ and ‘Deadliest Warrior: The Game’. It also includes all of the downloadable content and some exclusive TV show stuff. If you aren’t familiar with the series, it’s (surprise!) a fighting game based on the warriors profiled in the TV show.
