The TV Madness battle between David Banner versus Sherlock Holmes is still a very close race. We’ll have to see how that one plays out when the poll closes. Today is the last match-up of the final sixteen characters. After today’s match, we’ll be down to eight. Let’s see what happens when fan-favorite Malcolm Reynolds goes up against super-powered villain Sylar.
Mal has a huge following. We’ve already established that. His following could carry him past Sylar if all the ‘Firefly’ fans show up to vote. Sylar, on the other hand, fought through another fan favorite in the last round and bested Captain Kirk. Let’s see if he has the juice to keep his streak going.
Malcolm Reynolds – We all love a renegade, especially a funny one. During the brief first and only season of ‘Firefly’, Mal quickly became one of the most beloved characters to grace a TV screen. We can only wonder what his fan base would be like now had ‘Firefly’ aired for multiple seasons.
Secret Weapon: Mal is no stranger to danger, and whether you like him or not, Sylar poses a real threat. Mal has shown that he has the ability to execute impromptu plans and can get out of sticky situations with relative ease. He makes it look easy. He even took out Clark Kent/Superman to get to this point.
Sylar – Many people, myself included, still have a bitter taste in our mouths ever since ‘Heroes’ took a steep nosedive in quality after the first season. By the time the show ended, it was hard to recognize it as the series that many had fallen in love with. It was a shell of its former self, and therefore the memory of Sylar is rather tarnished, even though he had quite the collection of super powers.
Secret Weapon: He may not have the loyal fans that Mal has, but Sylar has an immense array of super powers that he stole from people over the course of ‘Heroes.’ Are these powers enough to overcome Mal’s craftiness and deadly one-liners? Your votes will decide.
