The Winner!

Yovan knows the true meaning of the title ‘Age of Extinction’:

Optimus Prime seconds after hearing Warner Bros. ditched HD DVD and went Blu-ray Exclusive.

That should do it for this one. Congratulations to Yovan for winning ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction – 3D‘ on Blu-ray, and thanks to everyone else for participating in our contest.

Yovan, not to pick on you. I would guess that you probably preferred your
other entries (assuming you made other entries).

Josh, you could have chosen wiser. A 7 year old reference of something
that we all got over it. And with Transformers being a Paramount title, not
a Warner release. That reference becomes weaker. There was no tie-in
    back to transforming robots.

I would have given it Shayne. I could hear the Gump voice in my head
when reading his entry. Or Csm’s Criterion reference was very apt to
current events and HDD’s reader base’s fears.

    • T.J. Kats

I believe the reference is because he first Transformers was one of the last big HD DVD exclusives before the Warner decision and death of HD DVD.

Fair point. But then I would have gone the way of how we collectors
        would view it.

Instead of mentioning Warner’s decision. I would have phrased it:

Optimus Prime seconds later after realizing the future blu-rays
wouldn’t match his red HD DVD case of the first film.

        Just nitpicking. Congrats Yovan.

I’m already embarrassed that I bought this on release day to be a
completist. I don’t want to win another copy.

    hi Timcharger,

No problem everyone has different taste but I like this one because i was trying to remember what made me want to hit the ground and do this pose that prime is doing.

i’ve been coming to this site since the start and I remembered that on this very site I saw the news about Warner leaving HDDVD and since I was a huge HDDVD guy this is what I wanted to do.

I’m sure that some of the guys running this site remember that day and how huge it was at the time.

I didn’t go into super detail it was just that kind of moment.

Oh and I prefer the way I phrased it better. : p

  3. David Staschke

Congrats Yovan! And thanks to High-Def Digest and Josh for another fun contest that made me try hard to be creative and provided dozens of laughs from reading others’ entries. This was one of the best ones yet! I had a blast!

  4. NJScorpio

    Congrats Yovan!

Josh – I’d imagine these contests drawn a few more visits to the blog each week you have one; perhaps on weeks where you don’t have a new release, you could have a contest for a sealed Blu-Ray of an older (even lousy) title? Heck, even a moderately desirable “reviewed” open copy.

Everyone likes to win stuff, and everyone likes to think they are funny, regardless of the prize (though I’m sure new releases get the most submissions).

    Just a thought! 🙂
