The Trailer Park: More Excitement for 2012

As is often the case, for every few promising movie trailers that come along, there will be at least one that completely ruins the party. We’ll start off with the worst first and then rid ourselves of its godawful taste with something sure to please.

‘Wrath of the Titans’

The funny thing about this sequel to last year’s absolutely horrible ‘Clash of the Titans‘ remake is that you can almost imagine it being equally terrible if not even shoddier than the last one. Seriously, every second that goes by feels like it grows progressively more dreadful. Then, the makers of this trailer seal the deal when Marilyn Manson’s cover of “Sweet Dreams” blares on the soundtrack. With a dumbfounded look on my face, I’m restraining the temptation to burst out laughing at this CGI circle jerk. You’d definitely have to pay me to see this mess.

‘The Hobbit’

What can I say about this? As a huge fan of the original J.R.R. Tolkien books and Peter Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings‘ movie adaptations, I find this sneak peek at ‘The Hobbit’ very exciting. It’s another highly-anticipated motion picture, and the teaser really succeeds at whetting the appetite. Having Thorin and the dwarves sing just as in the book while showing various other clips of the film is utterly fantastic. I think that Martin Freeman is the perfect actor for the young Bilbo role, and seeing Ian McKellen once again as Gandalf the Grey is simply awesome. My only hesitation is Richard Armitage as Thorin, because we haven’t seen enough of his acting yet, aside from a brief appearance in ‘Captain America’. The best part for sure comes toward the end, when the voice of another familiar character is suddenly heard. That part actually gave me chills, and I can’t wait to watch the movie!

  1. LOL! Just had a brain fart! I saw that headline picture, and thought it was Hook – partly because I just finished watching it. Took me about 10 seconds before I realized it was The Hobbit (I just saw the trailer a couple of days ago).

  2. I have the feeling that The Hobbit and Prometheus are going to be two of 2012’s best films. I don’t know if I can say the same (yet) about The Dark Knight Rises, Spider-man, or The Avengers.
