This week in May sees the release of at least one for-sure groovy videogame, possibly two. That’s a welcome change from last month, and there’s even more potential fun next week. Is the drought over? Only time will tell. In the meantime, consider these gems.

Well, April is over and we didn’t see many good videogame releases. May continues with this trend as we start the month with a $50 console game and two XBLA/PSN titles. Fear not, May will shape up. There are a few games coming out later this month that hold some promise. The titles that I’m looking forward to are ‘Starhawk’, ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’. So, buckle in and hope for the best. In the meantime, here’s what’s in store for you this week.

I thought that perhaps April might be easy on gamers’ wallets, and so far I’ve been right. Of the titles worth mentioning this week, two are sequels to videogames I haven’t played. Otherwise, you’ll have to buckle down for what is sure to be the most exciting videogame release week of the month, which is obviously not saying much

It’s a rather unremarkable week for new videogame releases, unless you’re one of the very specific 3DS owners who feels affection for the similarly unremarkable Nintendo Entertainment System game ‘Kid Icarus’. I guess it’s cool if you like golf too, but let’s be honest, golf games peaked with ‘Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf’ for the Genesis.

A nest of sequels and spin-offs carry the game industry this week, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We get a chance to take it to Umbrella once again, the opportunity to play as one of the world’s greatest ninjas and, of course, we get to fulfill the childhood dream of piloting a giant mech.
