Perhaps due to a desire not to draw attention away from the Oscars, or perhaps simply due to a shortage of worthwhile product to release, the Hollywood studios have chosen to go light on notable new Blu-ray releases this week. However, at least a couple of acclaimed films and one cult comedy managed to slip through.
There’s a lot of movement in the Netflix stream this week. Most of that seems to be children’s TV shows or movies that just aren’t worth mentioning, but a few stand out.

When I wrote up last week’s Blu-ray Highlights post, I somehow missed the fact that ‘Justin Bieber: Never Say Never‘ was released on Friday the 13th. What an inexcusable oversight! Can you ever forgive me? I sure hope so. Anyway, turning to this week’s new Blu-ray releases, it looks once again like the catalog titles are a lot more interesting than any of the brand new movies.

We’ve had a few rough weeks, but things are finally getting easier for Netflix fans. We may be losing a pretty big crop of movies from the stream this week, but they’re generally pretty bad ones. In exchange, we get a few newer releases and the return of one of my favorites.
