The latest movie starring the Muppets will get the collectible metal package treatment when it comes to Blu-ray next year. Sadly, the Canadian exclusive release doesn’t look like it’s going to be a SteelBook.

Although the title still doesn’t have an official release date yet, a first image of the Future Shop exclusive packaging recently appeared over on the retailer’s Tech Forum. Judging from the picture, it seems that Disney is sticking with the Viva Metal brand of casing.

While I would have liked a larger preview image, I kinda dig the design – especially since Beaker graces the front cover. (Can you tell he’s my favorite?) But I’m going to have to hold my final judgment until I get to see the quality of the finished product, and verify whether it’s a G1 or G2 sized case.

This Blu-ray should be available sometime in the spring of 2012.
