Full Metal Jackets: Bats in the Belfry

Christopher Nolan’s epic conclusion to the Batman saga will get a Blu-ray SteelBook exclusively available at Best Buy in the United States.

From the official film synopsis:

It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.

The SteelBook features a terrific image of Batman’s broken cowl after his brutal encounter with Bane (played by Tom Hardy). Here’s a closer look. (Click the image below to enlarge.)

The Dark Knight Rises‘ Blu-ray/DVD/Ultraviolet Digital Copy combo pack will feature 1080p video and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Supplements will include:

  • The Journey of Bruce Wayne
  • The Batmobile Documentary: Witness all five Batmobiles together for the first time in history. Dive deep into every aspect of the most awe-inspiring weapon in Batman’s arsenal as you journey through the birth and evolution of this technological marvel and cultural icon.
  • Ending the Knight: A comprehensive look into how Director Christopher Nolan and his production team made “The Dark Knight Rises” the epic conclusion to the Dark Knight legend.

‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Blu-ray SteelBook can be pre-ordered from Best Buy for $34.99.

For the same price I’m getting the limited collectors edition Cowl that is a model replica of that picture, I would much rather have the collectors packaging than a steel book, will look much cooler on the shelf 🙂

Amazon has it up for pre-order now

As a matter of fact, Worst Never Buy even sold the other steelbooks for $9.99 for a while, this summer. You can still buy them from the WNB website, but I believe they are $24.99, and they probably won’t have them in stock.

Yeah, I meant more some Steelbooks that artistically match them. There’s a great black-and-white poster for Begins that would look great on a Steelbook next to this one.

Kinda digging the digibook cover that Target has for TDKR.

There are not going to be additional steelbooks that artistically match the one for ‘TDKR’. Each steelbook artistically matches the original concept art of their respective film. That’s much better than 3 steelbooks that match each other, artistically.

It would sure be nice if BB would just allow people to purchase the steelbook case as a “pre-order” item for five bucks instead. As it stands, I bought the limited edition for the Dark Knight with the batpod, and will probably do the same again for Rises.
