Shia LaBeouf Not as Dumb as He Looks

Which is, admittedly, pretty dumb. Oh, I kid, I kid…

The star of such timeless masterpieces as ‘The Battle of Shaker Heights’ and ‘Eagle Eye‘ has been giving some rather unconventional interviews lately, in which he’s been shockingly critical of a couple of his biggest box office hits. Namely, ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen‘ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull‘.

About ‘Crystal Skull’, he said: “I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished,” and, “We need to be able to satiate the appetite. I think we just misinterpreted what we were trying to satiate.”

And on ‘Transformers’, he said: “When I saw the second movie, I wasn’t impressed with what we did… There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone.”

No, these are perhaps not the harshest words that someone might have for either of these cinematic trainwrecks. I’m sure that we, as viewers, are all well aware that both of these movies sucked, and may express so in stronger language. Still, it’s pretty rare to hear someone in the industry – someone responsible for the making of these movies who presumably hopes to work again – be forthright enough to admit as much. Especially after he’s just signed on to make ‘Transformers 3’ with Michael Bay, a temperamental director unafraid to fire actors who are publicly critical of him.

I say good for The Beef. His voice may not have dropped yet, but he’s clearly got some balls.

i was a bit disappointed when he said “we” when talking about Indy 4, but if he can back it up with a great or great performances in his next upcoming movies, i’ll be fine with it.
