Poll: Fall 2016 Returning TV Shows

Last week, we asked you about the fall 2016 new TV series you might want to give a look. This week, let’s see which returning shows you’ll continue to watch this season.

This is a very long list. I’ve attempted to include every scripted drama or comedy (no Reality shows, sorry) that are returning for a second or greater season. With this much clutter on the TV schedule, I’ve undoubtedly missed something. If so, tell us in the Comments and I’ll add it to the bottom of the poll.

Among dramas, I’m still on-board for ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, ‘American Horror Story’, ‘Gotham’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, ‘Supergirl’ and ‘Scream Queens’.

Of the comedies, I still watch ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘Last Man on Earth’.

I’ve given up on ‘The Strain’ this season. That show is just too damn boring and stupid. Regretfully, I also lost track of ‘Masters of Sex’ a while back and never caught up.

Which of these shows remain on your watch list?

Hmmm, did The Expanse not get renewed? I am still watching season 1, so maybe it wrapped up.

Other than those, just the obligatory Fox Sunday night shows, and the super Hero shows. Oh, and South Park! I can’t believe they are in season 19, and every season they still seem to come up with something fresh.

Makes sense. There are a few other shows that are looking like late 2016 or early 2017. A few sites are stating that Rick and Morty season 3 is looking to air in either late 2016 or early 2017.

Red Dwarf Season 11 starts in the UK on September 22nd, so I am looking forward to that!

    The Walking Dead
    Gotham
    Narcos
    Halt and Catch Fire
    Longmire
    Masters of Sex

Elementary and The Blacklist as well, but I am starting to lose interest in both and may not last through the seasons.

The only current series I watch with anything approaching regularity is Svengoolie, a hosted horror-movie-of-the-week airing Saturday nights on MeTV. (This weekend Sven is going off-formula a bit to present “The Cage”, the original Star Trek pilot, in honor of tomorrow’s 50th anniversary of Trek’s broadcast premiere!)

It’s surprising how little I picked… Big Bang, Walking Dead, Z-Nation, The Librarians, Once Upon a Time….
Big Bang – Back on form last season, compared to the one before, which we almost gave up on, so we’ll be watching the next.
Walking Dead – Still good enough that I want to watch, but the last few episodes of last season have me on the fence.
Z-Nation – I started binge watching just as something in the background while painting. It’s tongue in cheek and silly, I know… but often more fun than TWD and oddly enough, considering the comedy side, more consistent when it comes to characters, and more inventive when it comes to ideas on how to progress.
Once Upon a Time – I’m still enjoying them, even though they’re getting a bit tired. It’s lightweight fantasy fun.
The Librarians – Oddly enough the series my other half and I have been enjoying the most. It’s like a blast from the 80s or 90s. It’s enormous fun, with quirky characters and crazy plots. Sure, it’s not got the budget of a lot of the other shows, but it’s got 10 times more heart and creativity.

We’re also watching (didn’t see them on the list) Killjoys and Dark Matter, which are great. (Dark Matter slightly beats Killjoys). It’s nice to see a proper bit of scifi action adventure, even if both series are disturbingly similar in some ways!

We’ll probably check out The Expanse and Supergirl at some point, as they sound good/fun respectively.
