‘The Office: Season Nine’ Contest Results

Just 15 entries for our giveaway of ‘The Office: Season Nine’ on Blu-ray last week? Let’s be honest, that’s kind of pathetic. As I see it, one of the following happened. Either: 1) Nobody cares for ‘The Office’ anymore or wanted to win a copy; 2) Everybody was still checked-out mentally after the Labor Day holiday on Monday and couldn’t be bothered to expend enough energy to enter a contest; 3) My request to tell a brief personal story was too much to ask of most people; or 4) You guys are just burned-out on contests in general.

I have a hard time believing that people don’t like to be given stuff for free, so I’m inclined to rule out Option 4. In any case, I’m glad that at least some people entered. One of you will take home the prize.

As explained in the original post, we asked you to tell us about the best job you ever had and/or the worst job you ever had.

With so few entries, I’ll have to forego the usual round of Honorable Mentions. Take it as a given that anyone who entered but didn’t win qualifies as an Honorable Mention. With that in mind, let’s just cut right to…

The Winner

I read all the entries, and they were all good (or horrifying, in a couple of cases). Maybe I’m just a softie today, but Jared’s story here totally made me melt:

This may sound cheesy, but the best job I have ever had is my current one. After the birth of my second son I quit my job at the bank to just be a father. Since then I have taught my 3-year-old to read, ticked off every milestone my newborn has reached and seriously enjoyed every aspect of their little lives. What an awesome job!

Awwwww!!!

Congratulations to Jared for winning ‘The Office: Season Nine‘ on Blu-ray. Let this show be a reminder of what you left behind.

Thanks to everyone else for participating in our contest. Be sure to enter our ‘Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz’ contest before the deadline on Friday.

I’d chalk it up to the reluctance to get personal and maybe add that telling a brief story about a job is tougher than coming up with a funny caption. It may also be the prize itself. I liked the last season — that’s why I entered — but a lot of people seemed to despise it.

I truthfully don’t like the US version of the show. The British one was funny when it came out, but watching it now I find it boring. The show did not age well.

At least, that is my opinion. I couldn’t win anyways, so I entered for the fun of it.

    I was robbed! Again!

Good for you Jared, and if this pattern continues, you can enter again in 3 years.

And by then it’ll be the worst job you ever had. 😉

I got boys, too. You’ll disagree now, but you’ll know what I mean, maybe not quite in 3 years, but definitely by 6 years. Ohhhhh, you will.
