The Netflix stream this week is a lot like my Valentine’s Day… very little action. We’re gaining a cult classic and a few sexploitations, but giving up nothing in return. All in all, it’s a pretty dull week for the stream.

“A Netflix Original Series.” Bet you never thought you’d see those words. I sure didn’t. The Netflix stream loses some really good sketch comedy this week, as well as one of the few movie reboots that’s actually any good. In return, we get Netflix’s first original series. It’s not an exciting trade, but based on current user reviews, it might not be as bad as it seems.

All right, I’ll level with you – I’m a little scared this week. Netflix loses a huge amount of programming from the BBC, including a few favorites of mine. ‘Doctor Who’ is on the list at Instant Watcher, which is usually a reliable source. Yet on the Netflix page, the availability section shows “Streaming, Blu-ray and DVD.” If the show were leaving the stream, it should say “Streaming until x/x, DVD and Blu-ray.” So, I have my fingers crossed, because I’ve had a hankering to watch Seasons 1 through 4 again, and finish by bawling along in my room at the last half hour or so of ‘The End of Time’. So crazy good.

When looking through the movies being removed from Netflix this week, I began to get very excited. It looked like nothing of value would be lost. Instead, it turns out that Netflix will deprive us of great Shakespeare performances, and give us garbage in return. I’m not even going to link to the remake of ‘Carrie’, but I will call out one new movie in particular, whether you like it or not.
