Aaron Sorkin’s ‘The Newsroom’ – Yes Please!

Have I been living in a hole? How did I miss that a new Aaron Sorkin-penned show will be hitting HBO this summer?

The moment I watched the show’s trailer on YouTube, I wanted to know how much it would cost me to get an HBO subscription. The last time I regularly watched HBO was when ‘The Sopranos’ was big. Yes, I know that ‘Game of Thrones’ is the new show everybody is watching, but I just haven’t gotten into it yet. ‘The Newsroom’, however, stands out as something I must see right away.

I never thought it was possible to feel so much tension during the opening 30 seconds of a trailer. In those few lines Jeff Daniels yells at the audience, you can palpably feel the undercurrent of political and sociological unrest in this country. You know that this is going to be a divisive show that touches on all manner of touchy subjects and hot topics that throw people into blind rages on internet message boards. This show definitely won’t be for the faint of heart or the easily offended.

It’ll be great to see Sorkin’s writing thrust back into the newsroom setting. It seems like I’ve been waiting since the untimely end of ‘Sports Night’ for this. I can’t tell you how giddy I get while watching this trailer.

I know we’re not necessarily a news site here. We don’t announce all the new shows and casts coming to television, but this one somehow seems different. The trailer does what it’s supposed to. It makes the series appear epic in comparison to other television shows out there. Finally, we have a show that (hopefully) won’t tip-toe around the subjects, topics, and political feelings that divide this nation. And, to top it all off, I wouldn’t have pegged Jeff Daniels for an all-out angry newsman, but I like it. A lot!

Is there anything more entertaining than watching Aaron Sorkin slap his dick on dumb girls?

Everything you felt while watching this I felt x 1000. I think I’ve watched this teaser five times since it came out last week.

I love the freedom HBO will allow these dialogues to play in. It kills me that I have to wait fourteen months to own this on blu-ray.

If the gods are just, this show will run for ten years.

I’m curious how closely this season will be topical to the 2012 election.
